    • Footwear:

Sturdy, waterproof, and well-broken-in hiking boots: With excellent ankle support and aggressive tread for steep, potentially slippery terrain.

Moisture-wicking hiking socks (2-3 pairs): Avoid cotton. Consider an inner liner sock to prevent blisters.

      • Clothing (Layering is Crucial for Variable Mountain Weather):

Base Layer: Lightweight, breathable (polyester or merino wool) t-shirt that wicks sweat away.

Mid-Layers: Two warm fleece jackets or a synthetic insulated jacket for significant warmth.

Outer Layer: High-quality, waterproof and windproof jacket (e.g., Gore-Tex or similar) for protection against rain and strong winds at altitude.

Hiking Pants: Durable, quick-drying trekking pants (consider convertible pants). Avoid jeans.

Rain Poncho: Lightweight and essential for sudden downpours.

Extra Change of Clothes: For comfort after the hike (leave in the vehicle).

        Headwear & Handwear:

        • Warm Hat/Beanie: Essential for cold summit conditions.
        • Sun Hat/Cap: For sun protection during the day.
        • Warm, waterproof gloves: For protection against cold and wind.

      Essentials:

Medium-sized Backpack (30-40L): To carry all your layers, water, food, and personal items.

Water Bottle or Hydration Bladder (at least 3 Liters capacity): Crucial for strenuous activity.

Sunglasses: For sun protection, especially with potential glare.

High SPF Sunscreen (SPF 50+): High altitude means stronger UV rays.

      Lip Balm with SPF.

      Personal Medications: If applicable.

Headlamp/Small Flashlight: With extra batteries, for unexpected delays or early starts/late finishes.

      Highly Recommended (for Challenging Treks):

Trekking Poles: Strongly advised for stability, balance, and reducing strain on knees during both ascent and steep descent.
